LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Junior Brooke Thomason and freshman Mattie Fowler each hit three-run homers to lead Nebraska to a 10-2 victory against New Mexico State in five innings Sunday.
Thomason's shot came with two outs, putting the Huskers up 6-2 in the third. It highlighted the seven-run inning for No. 24 NU (8-3), which won all five of its games at the Troy Cox Classic while outscoring its opponents 56-10 during the weekend.
Fowler's home run, which came in the fifth and sealed the run-rule win, was the first of her career. She finished 3 for 3 with four RBIs.
Nebraska next participates in the Cathedral City Classic starting Friday.
