This morning's chilly, wet weather is forecast to return for the evening commute. Midday, however, is likely to bring a break from the drizzle.
Dave Eastlack, meteorologist for the National Weather Service office that serves the Omaha area, said drizzly rain should pick up again by late afternoon.
Wednesday brings another chance for rain, as a weak weather system moves through the region, Eastlack said. However, that system could well move north and east of the Omaha area, he said.
In the meantime, partly sunny skies should prevail Tuesday and Wednesday, and spring-like winds are forecast to kick up Thursday and Friday.
The snow and rain that's fallen in February has helped the metro area catch up on its precipitation for the winter. Since Dec. 1, 2.84 inches of precipitation have fallen in Omaha, 0.55 inches above normal.
