During my first pregnancy, a friend told me that her son, who had just turned 1, was sick for the first time. I told her I hoped my child would have that same luck, to not be sick in the first year of her life.
“Well, that won't happen,” she said.
I asked why.
“Because you aren't planning to breastfeed, and so you aren't providing the nutrients to her to prevent illness,” she said.
