SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) — The Scottsbluff City Council has accepted a settlement offer from the defunct Westward Airways in a lawsuit seeking to recover economic development funds.
The council accepted the offer Tuesday night.
Gering and Scottsbluff sued the airline and its operators in 2009, seeking to recover $130,000 loaned by the cities. Low passenger numbers and lack of funding led to the failure of the Scottsbluff-based airline in 2005.
Gering approved the settlement last week.
The total settlement is $15,000, with Gering receiving 40 percent and Scottsbluff receiving 60 percent.
