A Douglas County Court judge on Wednesday held a murder suspect without bond after hearing that ballistics tests tied the man to one of Omaha's weekend slayings.

Thylun M. Hill, 32, is accused of shooting Anthony J. Carter, 47, near 31st Street and Fowler Avenue around 10:40 p.m. Saturday.

Prosecutors said Hill shot Carter twice in the backyard of 4614 N. 31st Ave., the home where Hill resided.

Ballistics testing matched the bullets to the .38 caliber revolver Hill dropped as he ran from police, prosecutors said.

Police shot Hill during his aborted escape. In court Wednesday, Hill appeared to walk with a slight limp.

The father of three is charged with first-degree murder, use of a weapon to commit a felony and felon is possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors said Hill was convicted of manslaughter in 1998 in Minnesota and has one misdemeanor conviction in Douglas County.

In a separate shooting early Saturday, Matthew M. Voss, 34, was killed near 16th and Harney Streets. Tillman T. Henderson, 24, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Voss' death.
