COUNCIL BLUFFS — The Iowa Western Community Band will kick off its summer concerts Sunday playing an assortment of film music and traditional favorites.
The band will perform each Sunday in June at 7 p.m. at Bayliss Park.
This weekend’s program will feature highlights from “Titanic” and “Little Mermaid,” as well as big band music, a Gershwin medley, patriotic songs and marches by Sousa, Goldman and band member James-Michael Sellers.
Associate Director Gary Richardson will conduct the concert while Director Don Jacobson is pedaling in the Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska.
The concerts are free. Listeners are advised to bring lawn chairs and insect repellent.
For those interested in joining the band, rehearsals are Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at the Arts Center at Iowa Western Community College, 2700 College Road. Auditions are not required.
