Stir Concert Cove’s summer music series closes this weekend with a pair of performances.
A newly reunited Ben Folds Five will bring hits such as “Brick” and “Army” as well as songs from the band’s new album, “The Sound of the Life of the Mind,” when they play Thursday at 8 p.m. at Stir.
Dwight Yoakam, known for country hits including “Guitars, Cadillacs” and “Streets of Bakersfield,” performs at 8 p.m. Friday at Stir. A review of his latest album, “3 Pears,” by NPR said, “you get the feeling that he’s a little bit weary, and quite a bit wary. He’s a guy who, essentially, wants to sing about having his heart broken, whether it’s by a woman or by thwarted ambition. Both of which are great, eternal subjects around which he’s now built something close to a great album.”
