CONWAY, Ark. — The Creighton men rolled to their fourth straight win and their 10th straight Missouri Valley Conference shutout, beating Central Arkansas 3-0 Saturday.
Freshman Timo Pitter notched his first two-goal game for the Bluejays (9-3-2, 2-0-1 Valley), scoring in the fourth minute and the 56th. It was Pitter’s first road goals this season; he has four overall.
Senior Jose Gomez added his third goal of the year, scoring in the 10th minute, and distributed his sixth assist in four games. Freshman goalkeeper Jeff Gal earned his third shutout, making six saves against the Bears (6-6, 0-2) to improve to 5-0.
Creighton hasn’t allowed a Valley foe to score since its league opener last season (Oct. 12) against Missouri State, a span of more than 1,092 minutes.
Saturday’s victory, following Creighton’s 3-2 overtime win at Princeton last Tuesday, marked the first time the Bluejays scored three or more goals in consecutive matches on the road since 2001. It also gave coach Elmar Bolowich his 30th win at CU. He is 30-5-3 in his two seasons with the Jays, who return to action Tuesday to host UMKC for a 7 p.m. match at Morrison Stadium.
