Michaela Schimmer recorded her second career triple-double, but Western Illinois defeated the UNO volleyball team 26-28, 26-24, 25-20, 25-17 on Saturday.
Schimmer, a freshman, had a team-leading 12 kills, 16 digs and 22 assists, along with two aces and a block. She has accounted for the Mavs’ last two triple-doubles. The school’s last triple-double before this season came in 1999.
Natalie Ebke finished with 10 kills and 13 digs for the Mavs (6-18, 1-11 Summit League), and Bailey Baxter added 29 assists and 13 digs.
Western Illinois was paced by four players with double-figure kill efforts: Ann Miller (19), Samantha Fournier (19), Heather Smith (12) and Katie Hosteng (10).
UNO returns to action next weekend, facing Oakland at 6 p.m. Friday and Fort Wayne at 6 p.m. Saturday.
