Papillion-La Vista junior shortstop Hayleigh Evans has committed to accept a softball scholarship from Creighton.
Evans was an honorable mention all-Class A selection by The World-Herald after she hit .385 for the 28-9 Monarchs, who finished third at the state tournament and No. 4 in the final World-Herald all-class Top 10 and Class A ratings.
That .385 average was aided by a strong second half of the season in which Evans hit .468. She also scored 28 runs and had 22 stolen bases and 15 RBIs.
“It was Hayleigh’s first year at Papillion and she improved dramatically during the season,” Monarchs coach Todd Petersen said. “She has a great arm with fantastic instincts. She will be a true triple threat for us next season and at Creighton.”
