LINCOLN — Nebraska played defensive end Cameron Meredith at tackle more than ever at Northwestern, but that was when Chase Rome and Kevin Williams didn't travel.
Even now with the Huskers in better shape at defensive tackle, Meredith is still likely to get some work there.
“I think you're going to see him at both places,” Pelini said Thursday. “He's a good football player, and he's part of the combination inside and outside.”
Meredith also played end and tackle against Michigan. The senior has 28 tackles on the season, with three sacks.
Burkhead's status uncertain for Saturday
Pelini said Nebraska came through the week healthy in preparation for its trip to Michigan State.
The status of I-back Rex Burkhead (knee), however, remains in doubt.
“He's a possibility,” Pelini said. “We'll see how it plays out.”
There was no such concern for quarterback Taylor Martinez, who got banged up in the Michigan game. Pelini said the junior was “in great shape.”
