FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The University of Nebraska at Omaha volleyball team finished up this season's road schedule with a 25-17, 25-10, 25-19 loss to Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne Saturday night.
Freshman Michaela Schimmer led the Mavericks (6-20, 1-13 Summit League) with eight kills, 14 assists, seven digs and four blocks. The Grand Island Northwest product did it without committing an attack error.
Megan Schmale and Valerie Hecht also helped UNO outblock the Mastadons with five combined stops.
Kimberly Bailey had three aces and Bailey Baxter added 13 digs to lead the Mavericks.
Senior Natalie Ebke had seven digs to come within 25 of the UNO career top 10 list.
IPFW's Emily Spencer had 15 kills and 11 digs to lead the Mastadons (22-5, 11-3).
The Mavericks next host UMKC on Thursday at 7 p.m. For the homecoming match, fans are encouraged to wear white shirts as part of a “white out.” UNO then plays Saturday against South Dakota on Senior Night at 5 p.m. Seniors Ebke, Amy Roberts and Chelsea Snyder will be honored.
