The Omaha Storm Chasers and University of Nebraska at Omaha have joined together to make Werner Park the home for seven non-conference home games during the Mavericks’ 2013 baseball season.
“We are excited about expanding our partnership with UNO athletics,” said Martie Cordaro, the Omaha Storm Chasers president and general manager. “We believe Mavericks baseball will become a successful Division I college baseball program and look forward to being a part of the rising Maverick athletic department.”
The Mavericks open the seven-game slate on March 22 at 2 p.m. against Northern Colorado. The three-game series continues on March 23 and March 24 at 1 p.m. each day.
Other games include a matchup with Creighton on March 30 at 1 p.m.; a meeting with Air Force on April 9 at 6 p.m.; a showdown with Kansas State on April 10 at 6 p.m.; and a clash with Iowa on April 16 at 2 p.m.
“Werner Park is an outstanding venue for baseball and a great place to showcase our team against some very good Division I competition,” said Trev Alberts, director of athletics at UNO. “Our partnership with the Storm Chasers will put Maverick baseball on an outstanding stage for our fans to enjoy.”
Fans who attend the April 16 game against the Hawkeyes can exchange their ticket to the game for a grass berm seat for the Storm Chasers’ game later that night against the Albuquerque Isotopes at 7:05 p.m.
Tickets will be available for purchase in a seven-game package or individually.
