Notre Dame holds top spot in AP poll; Huskers move up 3 spots

Nebraska moved up three spots in the latest Associated Press college football poll after its 13-7 win over Iowa in the Heroes Game on Friday.

The Huskers (10-2 overall, 7-1 Big Ten), jumped from No. 17 to No. 14. They next face Wisconsin (7-5, 4-4) in the Big Ten title game in Indianapolis on Saturday. Nebraska forged a 30-27 comeback win over the Badgers in Lincoln on Sept. 29.

Nebraska rises one spot to No. 13 in the USA Today coaches' poll and moved up two spots to 12th in the BCS standings.

Ohio State (12-0, 8-0) is No. 4 in the AP poll but ineligible for the conference championship and postseason play. Michigan and Northwestern round out the Big Ten's teams in the poll, at Nos. 21 and 22, respectively.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame remains No. 1 with nothing left to do but wait to find out who its opponent in the national championship game will be.

Toward the bottom of the rankings, there was plenty of movement. Ten Top 25 teams lost this weekend, the most since Oct. 11, 2003.

No. 2 Alabama and No. 3 Georgia, both easy winners in rivalry games Saturday, held their spots in the rankings and will play for the SEC title in Atlanta next weekend.

Florida moved up a spot to No. 5 after beating Florida State.

Four teams from BCS non-automatic qualifying leagues are ranked. No. 18 Kent State and No. 19 Northern Illinois will play for the Mid-American Conference title Friday. No. 20 Utah State wrapped up its season as Western Athletic Conference champ.

No. 25 Boise State will play for a share of the Mountain West title against Nevada on Saturday.

The Big East had two teams fall out of the rankings: Rutgers and Louisville. The Scarlet Knights and Cardinals will play Thursday night with the Big East title and a BCS bid on the line.

Boise State and No. 22 Northwestern moved back into the rankings.
