More than 100 people arrested for drunken driving in Sarpy County are not cooperating with authorities, and Sheriff Jeff Davis wants the public's help in getting them back in line.
Davis said the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office would like to find 107 scofflaws who have been arrested for driving while intoxicated. The department, he said, has arrest warrants outstanding for people who are not showing up for court dates or are not complying with court orders.
“We are, like just about everybody else, working with limited manpower so if the public wants to let us know where to find someone, we'd appreciate it,” Davis said.
He suspects some of the people are “real problem drinkers” who continue to drive while intoxicated.
“They've got a warrant out for them, and we've got a duty to find them,” he said. “Just because (DUI) is not a felony doesn't mean it's not a serious crime.”
Lt. Russ Zeeb said deputies “are working the cases hard, but some of the suspects have moved and others are avoiding us as usual.”
Anyone with knowledge of an individuals on the list is asked to call Crimestoppers at (402) 592-STOP (7867) or the Sarpy sheriff's warrants unit at (402) 593-4372.
