Paige Frauendorfer overcame a 0-or-5 shooting performance in the first half to score 17 of her 18 points in the second as the University of Nebraska at Omaha women defeated Loyola (Chicago) 65-58 Saturday at Sapp Fieldhouse.
After Casse Vaughn put the Mavericks ahead 56-55 on an offensive rebound and putback with 2:56 to play, Frauendorfer made sure her team kept the lead. The 6-foot senior from Humphrey put UNO (6-2) up by four on its next possession with a three-point play, intercepted an inbounds pass, recorded an assist and blocked a 3-pointer with less than 30 seconds left.
Frauendorfer also had 13 rebounds for her second double-double this season.
Jamie Nash, who hit two free throws to clinch the win, played all 40 minutes and finished with 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field.
The Mavs’ defense forced the Ramblers — who came in leading the country by averaging 11.7 turnovers — into 14 turnovers.
UNO plays next at 6 p.m. on Dec. 17 at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
