PARK RIDGE, Ill. — Defending champion Nebraska has been selected as the favorite in the Big Ten preseason coaches poll.
The Huskers stand atop the poll after winning the Big Ten championship last season in their first year as a member of the conference.
Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Minnesota round out the top five. Illinois stands in sixth, followed by Iowa in seventh and Michigan State in eighth.
Sophomore Jessie DeZiel, last year's freshman of the year, is one of the gymnasts to watch along with NU teammate Emily Wong.
Iowa senior Emma Stevenson and sophomore Emma Willis are also gymnasts to watch in the conference.
Michigan was picked to win the men's title, followed by Illinois, Penn State, Ohio State, Minnesota, Nebraska and Iowa.
Hawkeye seniors Javier Balboa and Anton Gryshayev were picked as players to watch.
Juniors Wyatt Aycock and Eric Schryver were picked from Nebraska.
