Free disposal of used Christmas trees is offered at many Omaha metropolitan area locations. All decorations and stands must be removed before recycling. Throw your tree onto the pile, leaving room for others to access the site.
All sites will be open during daylight hours and will stop taking trees after Jan. 15.
Volunteers from the Rotary Clubs of Omaha and the Douglas-Sarpy Master Gardeners will help unload your tree from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and Jan. 5-6, 2013. Assistance is available only on the days listed.

UNMC rink extends time for skating
Hours for the University of Nebraska Medical Center public ice skating rink have been extended during the holidays.
The rink, which has concessions and music, is just east of 42nd Street midway between Emile Street and Dewey Avenue on the north side of the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education Building.
The rink is closed today and also will be closed Monday and Jan. 1. The rink will be open 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, noon to 8 p.m. Sunday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 2-4, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 5 and noon to 8 p.m. Jan. 6. Regular hours will resume Jan. 7. They are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays, noon to 8 p.m. Sundays and closed Mondays.
Admission is $7 per person and includes skate rental or $5 without skate rental. Cash or credit cards only. No checks or debit cards.
Free parking is available in lots along 40th Street between Dewey and Emile and in the lot along 41st Street between Emile and Leavenworth Streets.
