The sports section of the Omaha.com website was recognized Wednesday by the Associated Press Sports Editors as a top-10 site for the second year in a row.
APSE top-10 recognition is one of the most prestigious honors a sports department can receive. The judges are sports editors from across the country, and they look at everything, from presentation to editing to reporting.
The World-Herald's top-10 ranking among websites with between 500,000-2 million monthly visitors places it among the elite. Other winners in the group include the Buffalo News, Charlotte Observer, Des Moines Register, The Arlington Heights (Ill.) Daily Herald, Toronto Globe and Mail, Green Bay (Wis.) Press-Gazette, Lincoln Journal Star, Spartanburg (S.C.) Herald-Journal and the Wisconsin State Journal.
In the 2-million-plus group, winners include the Chicago Tribune, Denver Post, Kansas City Star, Los Angeles Times, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, New York Daily News, New York Times, The Oklahoman, USA Today and the Washington Post.
