Later this week, skies are forecast to clear in Omaha, temperatures are expected to climb, and by early next week, the high could reach into the low 40s.
Today, though, is forecast to be cloudy with a chance of flurries and temperatures peaking around 30 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
On Thursday, the mercury could struggle to get out of the teens.
The warmup should start Friday, as skies clear, according to the weather service. By Sunday and Monday, the high could be in the mid to upper 30s and by Tuesday, it could be in the low 40s.
That's not bad for this time of year. Monday marks the start of the coldest two weeks of the year --- on average --- in Omaha. During that stretch, the average daytime high is 33 degrees and the average nighttime low is 13 degrees, according to the weather service.
Warmer than normal temperatures could continue. The U.S. Climate Prediction Center says the odds favor warmer than normal weather for the eastern half of the U.S., including eastern Nebraska, for the first two weeks of the month.
