LINCOLN — Nebraska Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst briefly commented on Husker football during a radio appearance Tuesday night on the Husker Sports Network.
“Playing for a conference championship and playing on Jan. 1 is something that many, many programs wish they could do,'' he said. “There's obviously room for improvement. I think we're in good shape. We just need to keep pounding the rock.''
With Alabama winning a seventh straight national title for the Southeastern Conference, Eichorst was asked where the Big Ten fits into the national landscape in football.
“The evidence suggests we have some room to grow,'' he said. “I think we're very competitive in the Big Ten. The proof's in the pudding. All of us have some work to do to make strides toward the things the Southeastern Conference is getting done.''
