BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Despite being down 15 points at halftime, the University of Nebraska at Omaha men’s basketball team was able to able to pull within three points in the final minute of regulation.
The comeback would not come to fruition as Cal State Bakersfield defeated the Mavericks 84-79 late Saturday in front of 1,074.
UNO scored 55 points and shot just under 61 percent in the second half.
Senior guard Tyler Egli scored a season-high eight points off the bench with six of those coming from two 3s in the second half. They were his first made shots from the field since Dec. 1.
All UNO starters finished in double figures with Justin Simmons and John Karhoff leading the way with 14 each.
The Roadrunners were able to hold on in the second half despite their shooting percentage dropping nearly 20 percent from the 64 percent they shot in the first half.
UNO plays next at 7 p.m. Thursday at South Dakota.
