LINCOLN — The No. 9 Nebraska men's gymnastics team won its first home meet of the season and scored its most points of the year in beating Illinois-Chicago 423.3-397.5 Sunday at the Devaney Center.
The Huskers swept all of the event titles, along with the all-around title won by C.J. Schaaf, who earned a personal best 81.050.
NU started off slow on floor, posting their lowest event total of the day (69.150). Sophomore Grant Perdue found his momentum on floor, scoring 15.05. Micah Christensen followed with a 14.55. NU moved to pommel horse, where it recovered by posting a season-high 71.550. Wyatt Aycock earned the highest score on horse for the Huskers (14.85), followed by Eric Schryver (14.70).
Nebraska also set a team high for the season on rings, earning a 71.000. NU was lead by Schaaf, who posted a 14.40. Five of the six Huskers on rings posted scores of 14.05 or higher.
Eric Schryver continued to dominate parallel bars for Nebraska, posting the team's highest score for the meet (14.15). He also claimed the highest score on high bar, earning a 14.30.
NU hits the road next weekend, traveling to Minneapolis on Saturday.
