U.S. Rep. Lee Terry will speak this morning in Washington, D.C. at a public showcase highlighting products manufactured in the United States.
The products come from the home districts of members of the House Energy and Commerce Committee's Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade.
The showcase will precede the subcommittee's hearing, "Our Nation of Builders: Manufacturing in America," and will display a variety of products – more than 50 individual items – including auto parts, medical devices, and cutting-edge electronics.
Terry and Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Ill., will kick off the event with remarks at 9:15 a.m. highlighting the importance of manufacturing to the nation's economy.
"Manufacturing touches each and every congressional district and the industry supports nearly 12 million jobs nationwide, with more than half those jobs located in states represented by the subcommittee," Terry said. "We are still the world's largest manufacturing economy and this event will showcase just a few of the products that today are proudly made in the USA right in our backyards."
