A 28-year-old man was injured when an improvised explosive device blew up in his right hand, Omaha police said.
The man was taken by private vehicle to Immanuel Medical Center, said Officer James Shade, a police spokesman.
Family members told police they heard a loud explosion outside shortly after 8 p.m. Friday.
The injured man then ran into the house. Shade said the explosive device was something similar to fireworks.
He said the Omaha police bomb squad, FBI and Carter Lake police assisted in determining there were no other explosive devices.
