VERMILLION, S.D. — Sami Spenner won the pentathlon and the long jump Sunday to lead the University of Nebraska at Omaha women’s team into second place after the first day of the Summit League indoor championships.
The Mavericks earned 38 points, nine behind leader North Dakota State.
Spenner won four of the five events in the pentathlon to finish with 3,888 points, more than 300 points ahead of the runner-up. The final day of competition begins Monday at 9:30 a.m.
