Lloyd Hansen Jr.
Omaha Private 1st class, U.S. Army
Served from 1969 to '71, in Vietnam in 1970 with 25th Infantry Division.
Memory: "In late April of 1970, our unit started heavy patrols in the area between the cities of Cu Chi and Tay Ninh in South Vietnam. We also started setting up night ambushes closer to the border of Cambodia. Later in the week, we thought it odd that we were being called from our forward firebase back to our base camp at Cu Chi. We were told to take the next 12 hours off. The next day, not knowing where we were going, we crossed the border into Cambodia in order to disrupt the supply line of the Viet Cong and the North Vietnamese Army."
