Home Instead Inc. has been named the Best Place to Work for the Advancement of Women in Omaha by Baird Holm LLP and the Institute for Career Advancement Needs.
The Omaha-based franchiser of the Home Instead Senior Care network, which provides in-home caregivers for the aging, was selected because of its leadership initiatives and policies that support a professional and personal life balance. The company will be honored April 3 at the ICAN Women's Leadership Conference at the CenturyLink Center Omaha.
Baird Holm partner Kelli Lieurance said the company's yearlong leadership institute for top-level management and "Honor PTO" policy, which allows employees to take time off from work based on the premise of trust, stand out as ways the company is striving to improve.
“These programs serve not just to create an environment where women can advance and thrive,” she said, “but also serve to promote the advancement of people.”
Started in 1994 by Omahans Paul and Lori Hogan, Home Instead today is a global network of nearly 1,000 franchise offices. The company employs more than 130 people at its Omaha headquarters, with women representing 52 percent of its top-level leadership team and 50 percent of its midlevel management team.
Home Instead won the same award in 2010 and last month was recognized as one of Omaha's Best Places to Work this year.
Company employees at all levels of leadership have access to an internal academy, and the company is developing a program for midlevel managers that will help employees develop communication, conflict-resolution and problem-solving skills.
Jisella Dolan, chief legal officer for Home Instead, said the award is affirmation that the company is on track with its goals of creating and maintaining a work atmosphere based on mutual trust and respect.
