Infogroup, the Omaha-based Web marketing company, said Tuesday a mobile app it acquired last year has been downloaded 1.5 million times by bar hoppers.
The employer of about 1,000 people in the metro area said in a statement that its acquisition last year of Seattle-based GoTime included the mobile application Happy Hours. It allows users to view on their mobile phones lists of bars and cocktail lounges and their drink and menu specials, along with maps and contact information.
The founders of GoTime, Jeff Khadavi, Joshua Juster and Devang Kothari, have assumed key roles within Infogroup, the company said in a statement Tuesday. Attempts to reach officials with Infogroup were unsuccessful.
Infogroup sells marketing and sales information. It was founded in 1972 by Omahan Vin Gupta, who left in 2010 amid criticism over his handling of company money. Gupta then founded a competing company, Database101. The two companies later sued each other before reaching a settlement over claims of stealing employees, confidential information and customer data. The terms weren't disclosed.
