WAYNE, Neb. — Amanda Vorthmann and Sami Spenner each set school records for UNO on Saturday at Wayne State's Wildcat Classic.
Vorthmann broke the school record in the 10,000 meters, winning the event in 36:15.97 to pass Cheryl Fonley's mark of 36:34.01, set in 1984.
Spenner then set the school mark in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 2¼ inches. Her jump topped the old mark of 19-11 shared by Anastasia Kyvelidou (2005) and current teammate Kathie-Lee Laidley, who was second Saturday with a jump of 19-4¼.
