BENNET, Neb. — Authorities said they will not charge a southeast Nebraska man who shot his daughter’s boyfriend.
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office said an investigation shows that Michael Kinney, 50, shot Jeffrey Stotler, 21, in self-defense after Stotler forced his way into Kinney’s house last week.
Authorities said Stotler had argued with Kinney’s 18-year-old daughter on March 20 and knocked down the woman with his car. Investigators said he then tackled her when she ran to the house.
Officials said he left the property but came back and forced his way into the house. That’s when Kinney shot Stotler with a .22-caliber rifle in the chest and stomach.
Stotler, who is on probation for falsely imprisoning another woman in 2011, is recovering from his wounds. — AP
