A boy who was changing the radio station in the pickup truck he was driving collided with another vehicle Saturday near the Douglas-Washington county line, authorities said.
The drivers of both vehicles suffered serious injuries, said Marty Bilek, the chief deputy of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office. Neither injury was life-threatening.
The accident occurred about 4 p.m. when Justin Mahon, 17, of rural Washington County swerved to avoid a stopped vehicle in front of him in the northbound lanes of Highway 133, near Dutch Hall Road, Bilek said.
Mahon broke a leg and the driver of an oncoming vehicle, Bailey I. Heaton, 20, of Chadron, suffered severe cuts on her head, Bilek said.
Mahon was to be ticketed, Bilek said.
