Dishcrawl is coming to Omaha
Omahans now have a new way to explore different parts of the city while trying new restaurants.
Dishcrawl, a San Jose, Calif.-based company that produces culinary events, is coming to Omaha.
Dishcrawls take diners to a number of restaurants in the same neighborhood in one night. Omaha's first Dishcrawl will take place in the Old Market on April 23.
Dishcrawl aims to introduce diners to new restaurants and food and also to the chefs who make it. The restaurants on the crawl are kept secret until the night of the event, though Dishcrawl drops hints about the destinations on Twitter, @DishcrawlOma.
Reservations for the first Dishcrawl are $45 per person and can be purchased online at dishcrawl.com/omaha.
Sheraton starts wine program
The Sheraton Omaha Hotel is launching a premium wine program with a social hour that will include wine menus and tastings.
The social hours will take place three or four times a week and will feature two wines rated 90 or above on the respected Wine Spectator rating scale. The tastings will take place in the hotel lobby.
The hotel also will have a premium wine menu with “Sheraton Selects,” an upgraded rotation of eight or more wines available by the glass. All the Sheraton Selects wines will have a Wine Spectator rating of above 85.
Sheraton tested the program in 19 hotels around the world before launching it more broadly. The Omaha hotel, at 655 N. 108th Ave., has recently been remodeled.

2 chefs don't make Beard Award cut
Neither of the Omaha chefs who were nominated as semifinalists in the annual James Beard Awards made the cut to the second round.
Clayton Chapman of the Grey Plume and Jon Seymour of V. Mertz were nominated in the category of best Midwest chef.
Chapman was nominated last year in the rising star chef of the year category in the semifinalist round. It was Seymour's first nomination.
Chefs from Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Kansas City have won the Midwest category in the past five years.
Other Omaha chefs to be nominated in the first round in past years include Jennifer Coco of J. Coco, Paul Kulik of the Boiler Room and Dario Schicke of Dario's Brasserie.
The semifinalists are selected from invited judges, culinary professionals and ballots cast online by diners. A panel of more than 550 judges will narrow the list to five finalists in each category. Winners will be announced May 6 in New York City.
