A 22-year-old man who was being sought in connection with an Omaha slaying last week turned himself into authorities in Kansas.
Omaha police said LaMichael Fewell was arrested in Junction City, Kan. on a felony arrest warrant for second-degree murder in connection with the death of Jer'ray Moore.
Moore, 23, was shot last Saturday afternoon at the Omaha Housing Authority's Cherry Tree Apartments on the northwest corner of 83rd Street and Underwood Avenue. Moore was taken to Creighton University Medical Center, where he died.
Police said Fewell was awaiting extradition to Omaha.
On his Facebook page, Fewell says he lives in Manhattan, Kan., his hometown. But at least for a while, he lived in Omaha, where he attended Westside High School.
Douglas County Juvenile Court records show that he ran into trouble as a teen, including at Westside, where he was accused of theft. None of his juvenile court cases in Douglas County involved violence.
