East-west railroad traffic in Lincoln was halted Friday following the collapse of a girder on the West Haymarket Pedestrian Bridge now under construction.
No injuries were reported. The bridge is near the Pinnacle Bank Arena, also under construction.
The bridge is supported by three parallel girders, and the middle girder on the north part of the bridge slipped about 1 p.m., said Diane Gonzolas, spokeswoman for Mayor Chris Beutler.
Cranes are being moved to the site to stabilize the girder, which is over the railroad tracks. Once the girder is stabilized, normal rail traffic can resume.
Structural engineers will analyze the girder to determine if all or portions of the girder must be removed, Gonzolas said.
