Authorities say a 23-year-old man was critically injured early Friday in a single-vehicle traffic accident in midtown Omaha.
Officials said the accident occurred about 1:40 a.m. at 55th and Farnam Streets.
Matthew Nerz of Omaha was taken to Creighton University Medical Center in critical condition. Later, police said injuries to his chest were not considered to be life-threatening.
A police investigation indicated that Nerz's 1995 Honda Civic was westbound on Farnam when it left the roadway and struck a tree. Nerz was not wearing a seat belt, officials said.
The probe into the crash is continuing, police said.
