Amanda Vorthmann picked up another school record as UNO team competed in two meets almost 1,500 miles apart Friday.
Vorthmann won the 5,000 meters at the Doane College Relays with a time of 17:21.15. Vorthmann’s time broke Michelle Ellingson’s 11-year-old record by more than 13 seconds.
Vorthmann also owns the school record in the 3,000 meters.
Kristin Rogers also won the 10,000 meters in 39:27.23 for the Mavericks. The 3,200-meter relay team of Nicole Behm, Lydia Martin, Jackie Mezick and Ashley Kildow finished second in 9:55.12.
On the West Coast, several Mavs competed at the Brian Clay Invitation at Axusa Pacific. Katarina Zarudnaya ran a season-best 2:13.08 to finish ninth in the 800 meters.
Jessica Ripp set a personal best and finished 15th in the javelin, throwing 118-03. Kathie-Lee Laidley finished eighth in the 100-meter hurdles (14.64).
UNO concludes competition at Doane on Saturday. Those on the West Coast move on to the Beach Track and Field Invitational in Norwalk, Calif.
