GENOA — The Cross County boys and girls track teams took home the team titles at the Twin River Invite on Saturday.
Despite cold and windy conditions, the Cougar girls edged the Twin River Titans 143-125, while the boys came down to the wire with the Cougars five points better than the host Titans at 146-141.
The Cross County girls won six events as Kylie Lamoree won the triple jump with a jump of 29-1, Naomi Kerwood was second (28-0 ¾ ) while the 1600-meter run went to Taylor Rystrom with a time of 6:41.20. She added the 3200 with a clocking of 14:12.0
The 200 was won by Emily Larson with a 28.70. In the 400, second went to Josie Baker with a 1:07.60 and she was also runner up in the 100 with a 13.50. In the shot put Sadey Waller tossed the ball 33-10 ½ for second and the 3200 relay ran a 13:09.50 for second.
The 4x100 and 4x400 relays for the Cougars took the top spots with times of 55.20 and 4:43.60, respectively.
The rest of the team’s scoring was rounded out by: Waller at fourth in the discus 88-8, Kayla Winkelman 4-0 in the high jump for third and Rystrom 3-6 for sixth. Fourth in the long jump with 13-6 ½ went to Kerwood, Larson was 26-7 in the triple jump for fourth, in the 100 hurdles Kerwood was third with a 19.90, Jordan Baker ran fourth in the 100 with a 13.80. MaKenna Sempek was 14.10 for fifth in the 100, fifth in the 400 with a 1:13.90 and sixth in the 200 with a 31.20. In the 400 taking fourth was Jordan Baker with a 30.30.
On the boys side the Cougars won nine of the 16 events contested.
Senior Parker Anderson was a three-time winner as he took the 100 (10.9), the 200 (22.90) and the 400 (50.70). Other first place efforts went to Dylan Bjerrum in the discus 118-10, Jordan Anderson in the triple jump with a 40-3 ¾, Travis Eller won the 1600 with a 5:09.90, Aaron Giannou won the 800 with a 2:13.20 and the 3200 went to Casey Walkup with a time of 12:18.60.
The 4x800 relay was first with a time of 9:33.80 and the 4x400 was second with a clocking of 3:56.60.
In the triple jump, Eller was second with a mark of 39-0 and also placed in the high jump with a 5-2 for fourth.
The rest of the team’s scoring was rounded out by: Brett Roesener at fourth in the discus 104-6 and fifth in the shot put (37-8), while Bjerrum was sixth with a 35-8, Jordan Anderson third in the long jump at 18-8 ½, Giannou sixth in the triple jump (34-7), Lane Gottula fifth in the 100 hurdles (20.30), Coleman Baker sixth in the 100 (12.70), Walkup fourth in the 1600 (5:41.50), Trenton Gabriel fifth in the 400 (59.90), Gottula sixth in the 300 hurdles (51.40) and Caleb Compton was third in the 3200 (12:57).
Cross County is back in action on Saturday at the Crossroads Conference Invite in Osceola.
