The Creighton softball team blanked Southern Illinois 5-0 Sunday at CU Sports Complex to claim its fifth straight Missouri Valley Conference series victory.
Creighton (26-12, 12-3) scored five runs on 12 hits, including back-to-back solo home runs by Amy Baker and Alexis Cantu in the third inning.
Each of Creighton's nine starters produced a hit, while Cantu and Kelsey Allender led the Jays with two hits apiece. Both of Cantu's hits were solo homers.
Becca Changstrom got the win with the three-hit shutout. Her 10 strikeouts gave her 11 games with double-digit strikeouts this season.
The Bluejays remain 1½ games ahead of Drake atop the Missouri Valley standings.
Creighton opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. Ellen Homan singled and Ashley Frutos drew a walk before pinch-hitter Blake Ringle drilled a double to right center to give Creighton a 1-0 lead.
In the third, Baker drilled a solo homer down the left-field line and Cantu followed with a shot to left to give Creighton a 3-0 lead.
After a pitching change, Bri Lingl doubled off the top of the wall, and Allender singled through the right side to put Creighton up 4-0.
The Bluejays added a final run in the fifth inning as Cantu hit another solo shot.
