The second annual Omaha Duathlon is Sunday at Memphis State Recreation Area, between Omaha and Lincoln.
The race is a biking and running event. Athletes will run 2.5 miles, bike 15 miles and run another 2.5 miles. Duathlons often introduce athletes to multisport events and can act as a stepping stone to triathlons.
“It’s definitely good for someone who isn’t a good swimmer and isn’t ready for that part of (a triathlon),” race director Alan Kohll said.
You can register as an individual or sign up for the team relay. Teams divide the events among members. Kohll expects about 150 people to race on Sunday.
“The great thing about it is it’s a great venue, and it’s very flat,” he said. “If you haven’t been training a ton...(you) can probably handle this race course without too much problem.”
The last day to sign up is Friday. Visit RaceOmaha.com for more information.
