Fire officials said that nobody was injured early Thursday in a minor fire at a South Omaha grocery store.
The manager of the Hy-Vee at 35th and L Streets reported a fire about 4:35 a.m., and approaching firefighters reported smoke coming from the south side of the building.
The store, which is open 24 hours a day, was evacuated.
The fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters after efforts by Hy-Vee workers using fire extinguishers failed to douse the small blaze.
The fire apparently was contained to a shelving area in the meat department.
