A former Missouri Valley (Iowa) High School coach has lost his coaching authorization after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student.
The Iowa Board of Educational Examiners revoked the coaching certificate of Jason Dulberg, who had been the girls soccer coach.
Dulberg, of Atlantic, Iowa, began working for the Missouri Valley Community School District in January 2012. A complaint was filed with the board that September, about the same time Dulberg resigned his position with the district.
According to state documents, the board found evidence that Dulberg and a girl had communicated via text messages and cellphones and that he took her on an overnight trip out of state.
Harrison County Sheriff Patrick Sears said his agency investigated but didn't find enough evidence to make an arrest.
Dulberg worked in the district only as a coach, not as a teacher, Missouri Valley Superintendent Deidre Drees said Thursday.
Dulberg voluntarily surrendered his coaching authorization April 4. The next day, the board permanently revoked it.
Dulberg could not be reached for comment.
