BOONE, Iowa — A man charged with killing his wife in Boone last year has been released from jail after his bail was lowered.
Alexander Fazzino, 39, walked out of jail Thursday after his bail was lowered to $500,000.
District Judge Michael Moon said in an order issued late Wednesday that Fazzino's previous bail of $1.5 million was too high.
Fazzino was arrested in Missouri this month in connection with the January 2012 death of his wife, 32-year-old Emily Fazzino. He faces a first-degree murder charge.
Emily Fazzino was found in a bathroom in the couple's home. An affidavit says her husband told authorities he believed she had overdosed on prescription pills.
An autopsy revealed several areas of trauma and no signs of drug abuse. — AP
