BRIDGEPORT — The Bayard golf team landed four golfers in the top 10 and fired a 346 to capture the team title in the Western Trails Conference Tournament on Saturday at Court House and Jail Rock Golf Course in Bridgeport.
Tyson Schmunk and Trae Blanco captured second and third place, respectively, with scores of 82; while Joe Hernandez ended up sixth with an 88, and David Schuler in ninth with a 94.
Bridgeport, which finished in second place with a total of 360, also placed four golfers in the tournament including top finisher, Dakota Swires, who carded an 80 to win the tournament. Collin Anderson shot a 91 to place seventh, while Tyler Frickey (93) was eighth and Taylor Janicek (96) was 10th.
Mitchell’s Peyton Briggs finished in fifth place with a score of 85 to help the Tigers to a third-place finish with a score of 393.
Hemingford finished in fourth with a score of 420, edging out fifth-place Kimball, which finished four strokes back with a 424. The Longhorns’ Henry Heeg fired an 81 to capture second place in the tournament. Morrill rounded out the scoring with a 517, while Gordon-Rushville competed with three golfers and didn’t register a team score.
