Revelle picks up 800th win

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Head Coach Rhonda Revelle collected her 800th career victory as her Nebraska softball team defeated Penn State 3-1 Saturday.

Junior right-hander Tatum Edwards picked up her 24th win on the mound, holding the Nittany Lions to three hits and a single run. She didn't allow a hit after the third and added three strikeouts.

The Huskers (38-11, 15-5 Big Ten) built a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning despite not registering a hit. With the first two batters retired, Taylor Edwards and Brooke Thomason each drew walks. Courtney Breault followed with a ground ball fielded by Penn State third baseman Lexi Knief. The infielder threw wild to first base allowing Edwards and Thomason to score.

Senior Gabby Banda pushed across the third and final run for Nebraska with a two-out RBI single in the fifth inning.

The Huskers' school record-tying 14th road victory of the season clinched a top-four seed and first round bye for next week's Big Ten Tournament.

Revelle improved her career coaching record to 800-434 with the win. The 2010 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Hall of Fame inductee is Nebraska softball's all-time wins leader.

The Huskers continue their series with the Lions Sunday with a Big Ten Network televised game at 1:30 p.m.
