Authorities said the sections of southbound Interstate 680 and eastbound Interstate 80 that were closed early Thursday for cleanup after a semitrailer truck jackknifed had reopened by early Thursday afternoon.
The Interstate junction was closed after the semi jackknifed in heavy rain shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday. The closure was from roughly Pacific Street south on I-680 and east on I-80 to about 96th Street.
The stretch reopened about 1:45 p.m. Thursday, roughly 11 1/2 hours after the accident.
Officials opened one lane of southbound I-680 at 7 a.m. for the morning commute. The other two lanes of southbound I-680 remained closed while authorities emptied the truck of its fuel and produce, including celery.
