MUNCIE, Ind. — UNO’s Kathie-Lee Laidley set school and Summit League high jump records while teammate Sami Spenner posted another win in the heptathlon Friday on the second day of competition at the Summit League outdoor championships.
The Mavericks moved up to third place among the nine women’s teams with a score of 57. Preseason favorite North Dakota State leads with 89.5 points while South Dakota is second, one point behind.
Laidley posted a jump of 5-11½, breaking the old school record of 5-9¼ set by Sandy Derby in 1998. Laidley tied with Megan Glisar of South Dakota for the championship, but Glisar won the tiebreaker because of fewer misses and took first place.
Spenner, who is entered in five other events and will run in both relays Saturday, won the heptathlon with 5,356 points, well ahead of runner-up Tansha Clarke of South Dakota, who scored of 4,919.
