People in Kansas City, Des Moines and Sioux Falls, S.D., are getting a dose of why it feels good to be in Omaha. The Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau has launched a regional “Welcome to the Weekend” advertising campaign that targets those metro areas. The campaign promotes Omaha as a great place to get away, relax and enjoy a weekend state of mind, any day of the week.
Dana Markel, the bureau’s executive director, said the ads capture Omaha’s vibe.
“We want to position Omaha as weekend destination for memorable experiences,” she said. “It’s a brand promise we know Omaha can deliver, and when we deliver, it brings new revenue to Omaha hotels, attractions, restaurants and retail shops.”
The campaign runs through early October and includes television, radio, theater and online ads in Kansas City, Des Moines and Sioux Falls. In addition, the bureau partnered with Radio Disney to promote Omaha during eight Disney-produced community events in Kansas City.
Beginning May 18th, the bureau will offer a free savings card to visitors that provides more than $100 in discounts to top Omaha attractions. Local residents can pick up a card at the Omaha Adventure Family Festival, Village Pointe Shopping Center or any Metro area First National Bank location.
