For this couple, business is something to be shared.
Co-owners David and Kim Nelson opened Bling by Zing, a rhinestone apparel company, their third business together. They said they enjoy helping others be successful.
Zing creates custom rhinestone designs for shirts, hats and more, including official Nebraska Husker gear. Through 20 consultants spread over five states, their business has grown since October 2011.
A ribbon cutting with the Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce was held Friday, and Zing will hold a grand opening event during Papillion Days.
“It’s what we enjoy, bringing our business to others,” David Nelson said.
The company employes five, but the future holds plans for growth in Papillion and, hopefully, into other areas.
The perk of doing their own rhinestone embellishments, Kim Nelson said, is a shirt with rhinestones in a boutique would cost about $60, but they only charge $35 for the same product.
Their business holds two of the rhinestone placement machines which automatically decorate designs through a computer. Racks hold hundreds of designs for customers to choose from, featuring local sports teams logos, band mascots and more.
Kim Nelson got the idea for the store after noticing friends of hers with rhinestone apparel. She researched it, saw the demand and within the month the business was rolling.
“We hope to grow nationwide, but our home is here in Papillion. It’s where we want to be,” Kim Nelson said.
