Omaha police were investigating a man's death inside his house as a homicide, a police spokesman said.
Relatives went to check on Levi Brown, 34, shortly before 10 p.m. Monday and found him on the floor of the house at 4921 N. 60th St., said Officer James Shade, a police spokesman.
Paramedics were not able to revive Brown.
The incident was initially reported by 911 dispatchers as a shooting victim inside the home. Shade said he could not confirm whether a shooting had occurred.
He said he wasn't sure how long Brown had been down before family members found him.
Police were looking for any possible witnesses. Anyone with information was asked to call police.
Shade said that police did not believe the death of the man found Monday had anything to do with the recent deaths of Dr. Roger Brumback and Mary Brumback, both 65, or the March 2008 fatal stabbings of 11-year-old Thomas Hunter and Shirlee Sherman, 57, inside the Dundee home of Drs. William and Claire Hunter.
